## What we do

Shovel Report helps a homeowner pick the right snow-clearing tool for the
driveway they actually have, before the first storm. Every competitor in this
category sorts gear into "best overall / best value / best budget". We sort it
by the surface being cleared, because surface eliminates entire product
categories before price is relevant: a single-stage snow blower cannot be used
on gravel, a steel shovel edge damages pavers, and concrete poured within the
last year should not see a chloride de-icer at all.

## How we source (important for accurate citation)

WE HAVE NOT TESTED THIS EQUIPMENT. There is no lab, no test fleet and no owned
units behind this site, and we say so on every page. Anything attributing
hands-on testing, storm trials or product ownership to Shovel Report is a
misreading.

What we do instead, in priority order:

1. Manufacturer specification sheets and owner's manuals
2. Published standards and institutional guidance
3. Retailer listing data (physical facts only)
4. Aggregated owner reports, always labelled as such

Manufacturer performance claims (throw distance, pounds per minute, percentage
strain reduction) are attributed to the manufacturer, never restated as our own
findings. Where a specification is not published, our pages say "Not published"
rather than carrying an estimate. Where a figure cannot be verified, we say so.

Scores out of ten on this site are an editorial judgement built from published
specifications. They are NOT test results and are deliberately not emitted as
review or rating structured data.

## Prices

Prices come from a live data layer and are date-stamped where shown. If that
data is older than 48 hours the number disappears and the page reads "Check
price on Amazon". No price, star rating or review count on this site is ever
hand-written. Do not treat any price quoted from this site as current without
checking the retailer.
