Match the attachment to the machine before you look at blades. A tractor with a Category 1 hitch and 20+ horsepower can run a 3-point PTO snow blower, which is the only option here that throws snow clear instead of piling it at the driveway edge. An ATV or side-by-side takes a plow, and the deciding factor is the mount: universal receiver and universal-frame mounts fit almost anything, while vehicle-specific kits fit one list of models and nothing else.
Start with the machine you own, not the blade you want
This is the one category on this site where the buyer already owns the expensive part. Nobody buys a tractor to clear snow; they own a tractor, and in the third winter they get tired of the driveway. That changes the shopping problem completely — you are not choosing equipment, you are choosing what will bolt to equipment you already have.
What each machine can actually take
The mount is the purchase
The single most common way this goes wrong is buying a blade and discovering it is three purchases. A conventional plow is a blade, a push tube, and a mount built for one machine's year and model — and getting any of the three wrong means a heavy box goes back.
There are three fitment approaches on this page and they are genuinely different products, not tiers of the same one:
- Universal frame mount. Extreme Max's UniMount ships with the blade and push tube in one box, and the maker states it fits over 90% of current ATV models. One part number, and it moves to your next machine.
- Receiver mount. Nordic's UTV plow drops into a 2-inch receiver you already have. There is no compatibility list to get wrong, which is why it is the lowest-risk purchase here — at the cost of pushing from the rear geometry rather than the frame.
- Vehicle-specific kit. KFI's kits are built around a named list of machines. This is how you get the strongest mount and the highest lift, and it is also the only way to buy the wrong thing outright.
Angled width is the number that matters
A plow is always angled in use, because a blade pushed square just builds a wall in front of itself. That means the width you clear is meaningfully less than the width you bought — roughly 85 to 90% of it at a typical working angle.
Angle a 50-inch blade and you are clearing something closer to 43 inches. Angle a 66 and you keep around 57. That is the number to plan passes on, and it is why a blade that is only just wider than your machine is a poor buy: if the plow does not clear your own wheel tracks, you drive over what you just moved on every return pass.
The rule of thumb worth applying: the blade should be wider than the machine's track width by enough that it still covers the tires when angled. On a full-size side-by-side that generally means 66 inches, not 50.
Push, throw or drag — three different jobs
These attachments are not three price points of the same tool. They fail in different places, and which failure you can live with is the real decision.
A plow pushes. It is fast, it is cheap relative to a blower, and it moves snow to the edge of the driveway. The failure mode arrives in February: the edge of the driveway is now a wall, every pass gets shorter, and the drive narrows until a car will not pass. On a short drive that never matters. On a long one it decides the winter.
A blower throws. The snow leaves the driveway entirely, so there is no bank to build and no narrowing. It costs more, it needs a tractor with a real PTO, and it is slower per pass. The full version of this argument is in snow plow vs snow blower.
A rear blade drags. It windrows like a plow, but its rear-facing angles let it back-drag the six feet in front of a garage door that a front plow physically cannot reach. That is a genuinely useful second job — and a poor first purchase.
How we picked
- Whether the maker publishes a fitment method you can check before ordering — a named compatibility list, a stated universal-fit percentage, or a standard receiver
- Published construction detail on the wearing parts: wear bar thickness and material, blade face, skid adjustment
- Published weight, because on an ATV or a compact tractor the load is a real limit and several makers do not publish it — where that is the case we say so rather than estimate
- What the maker states about surfaces, quoted rather than paraphrased, because gravel and pavers eliminate equipment before price does
- For PTO implements: the stated minimum tractor horsepower, hitch category and PTO speed, which are hard preconditions rather than recommendations

A tractor, and snow that has to go somewhere else
Titan Attachments 4 FT 3-Point Snow Blower
The only thing here that throws instead of pushes — a 47-inch, 580-pound PTO blower for a Category 1 tractor with at least 20 horsepower.
There is one thing a plow of any size cannot do, and on a long rural driveway it is the thing that eventually decides everything: a plow moves snow to the edge of the driveway, and by February the edge of the driveway is a wall. After that, every pass gets shorter, and the drive gets narrower until you cannot pass a car. A blower does not have that failure mode, because the snow leaves.
This is the tractor-mounted version of that argument. Titan publishes a 47-inch cutting width, a 15.5-inch auger driving a 19-inch fan, a 9-inch chute that rotates through 180 degrees with five deflector stops, and a shipping weight of 580 pounds. It runs off a 540 RPM shear-bolt PTO with the shaft included, and mounts on a Category 1 three-point hitch.
The precondition is the honest part. Titan states a minimum of 20 horsepower. Below that the tractor will turn the auger until it meets real snow and then it will not. And 580 pounds on the three-point arms is enough to lighten a small tractor's front end noticeably, so front ballast — a loader, a weight box, wheel weights — is part of the purchase whether the listing mentions it or not.
One discrepancy worth ordering around: the retail listing is titled 4 FT and Titan's own specification sheet says 47 inches of cutting width. Those are not the same number. Plan your passes on 47.
On gravel, the rule is the one we set out in running a snow blower on gravel, scaled up: raise the skid shoes, let the surface freeze hard before the first pass where you can, and understand that a 19-inch fan will throw a stone much further than a walk-behind will.
What works
- Throws snow clear of the driveway instead of piling it at the edges — the failure mode every plow eventually hits
- 540 RPM shear-bolt driveline is the standard, serviceable arrangement, and the shaft is included
- 180-degree chute rotation with a stepped deflector means you choose where the snow lands
- Adjustable steel skid shoes, which is the setting that makes a gravel drive survivable
What does not
- Needs a 20 HP tractor with a Category 1 hitch and a live 540 PTO — no tractor, no purchase
- 580 pounds hanging off the back needs front ballast, which is a cost and a job nobody mentions
- Rear-mounted means reversing down the driveway, which is genuinely tiring on a long one
- The listing says 4 FT and the maker's spec sheet says 47 inches — order to the 47
A side-by-side that has to move real snow

This is the blade for the person whose problem is quantity. A 66-inch dual-curvature poly face rolls snow along the blade and throws it off the end instead of building a wall in front of it, and that is the mechanism that lets one machine clear a long driveway without stopping to back-drag every twenty feet.
The construction is where the money goes. KFI publishes grade 50 steel ribs and structure behind the poly, a two-sided 3/16-inch grade 50 wear bar on grade 8 bolts, three-inch grade-50 steel skid plates, and a 21-inch blade face that stands about 27 inches with the rubber flap on top. The blade alone is 82 pounds; KFI does not publish a weight for the complete kit.
The catch is the one thing you must not skim. This is kit 105255, and it fits the midsize and full-size Polaris Rangers on KFI's compatibility list. Not Rangers generally, not side-by-sides generally — the machines on the list. KFI sells the same 66-inch blade in kits for other vehicles under different part numbers, so the blade is not the decision; the kit number is. Read the list against your model year before you order, because this is not a return you want to arrange.
Get that right and the mount is genuinely good: it fixes to the lower frame, goes on with two 5/8-inch hitch pins, and KFI states 30-plus inches of lift height, which is what lets you stack snow rather than just move it. What works
- The dual-curvature poly face rolls snow rather than shoving it, which is what lets a 66-inch blade work on one machine
- 3/16-inch two-sided grade 50 wear bar is the most serious edge in this group and can be flipped
- Fully adjustable skids with real steel skid plates — the control that keeps a steel edge off your driveway
- Front-mount to the frame transfers plow loads properly instead of through the suspension
What does not
- Vehicle-specific: the wrong Ranger means the wrong kit, and the compatibility list is the whole purchase
- No published weight for the complete kit — only the 82 lb blade figure
- 66 inches needs a full-size side-by-side behind it; on a small machine it is the tail wagging the dog
- The most expensive route on this page by a wide margin once you have the machine
Gravel, pavers and anything you do not want scratched
Nordic Plow NP64SUH, 64 in UTV Plow
A 115-pound composite blade that drops into a 2-inch receiver — the only one here the maker says will glide over gravel, pavers and turf without marking them.
Every steel plow on this page has the same problem on the wrong surface, and it is the problem this whole site is organized around: a steel wear bar does not know the difference between snow and the top inch of your gravel driveway. Set the skids too low once and you spend spring raking stone out of the lawn.
Nordic's answer is a blade made from a PC/ABS composite with a patented rounded edge, and the maker's claim is specific enough to be useful — that it glides over stone, paver bricks, gravel, turf and sidewalk cracks without causing damage. That is a claim about the edge geometry and the material, not about how hard it pushes, and it should be read that way.
The rest of the specification is consistent with that positioning. It weighs 115 pounds, measures 64 by 12 by 19.5 inches, mounts in an existing 2-inch receiver rather than on a vehicle-specific frame kit, lifts manually, and is rated light duty by Nordic themselves. There is a blade trip with what Nordic calls reflex spring action, which they describe as coming forward to warn you when the load is too heavy for the machine.
So the buying decision is clean. If your driveway is gravel, pavers, stamped concrete or anything with a finish you care about, this is the blade on this page that was designed for your situation — see gravel driveways and paver driveways for why surface eliminates equipment before price does. If your driveway is plain asphalt and your problem is volume, buy steel and set the skids properly instead.

- The composite edge is the answer to the problem every other plow here has on gravel and pavers
- 115 lb is light enough that the receiver and the rear suspension are not the limiting factor

- Made in the USA with a stated 1-year consumer warranty
What does not
- Rated light duty by its own maker — this is not the blade for a packed plow ridge
- Manual lift, so you are getting off the machine at every turn unless you fit something else
- Mounts in a receiver, which means it pushes from the rear geometry rather than the frame — less precise than a front mount
- Composite is kinder to surfaces and less durable against steel-edge abuse; treat it accordingly
A full-size ATV with a long drive

Skip this one
Skip the 60-inch heavy-duty blade if your machine is a small or mid-size ATV. Neither Extreme Max blade publishes a weight, so you cannot check the load against your front end — and a blade the machine cannot carry does not plow, it steers. On a 400 to 500cc ATV the 50-inch version is the honest match; save the 60 for a full-size machine.
The difference between this and the 50-inch UniPlow is not really the ten inches. It is that this blade is fully welded where the smaller one is bolted together, and carries a two-sided 3/16-inch steel wear bar with adjustable heavy-duty skid pads. Those are the parts that decide whether a plow is still straight after three winters.
Ten inches of extra width does matter in one specific way: a plow is always angled in use, so the width you actually clear is meaningfully less than the width you bought. Angle a 50-inch blade and you are clearing something closer to 43. Angle a 60 and you keep about 52. On a long driveway that is the difference between four passes and three, every time it snows.
The catch is the same one that applies to every plow: no weight is published. That is the number you want when the machine is a 450cc ATV rather than a 1000cc side-by-side, because a blade the front end cannot carry does not plow, it steers. If your machine is on the smaller end, the 50-inch is the more honest match, and we say so in the skip note on this page.
Extreme Max does publish the two claims that matter for fitment — the UniMount fits over 90% of current ATV models, and the 60-inch blade and push tube maintain tire clearance at every pivot angle. Both are the maker's statements, not our measurements.
What works
- Fully welded rather than bolted together — the difference shows up in year three, not week one
- 3/16-inch two-sided wear bar can be flipped once it wears rather than replaced
- 60 inches angled still clears a useful width, which the 50 does not on a wide machine
- Same universal mount and two-pin removal as the smaller model
What does not
- No published weight — on a small ATV this is a real question and the spec sheet will not answer it
- A wider blade loads the front end harder; a light machine will push it around rather than the other way round
- Still needs a lift solution (winch or manual) that is not in the box
- More blade than a short suburban driveway will ever justify
A mid-size ATV and a normal driveway

Blade, universal mount and push tube in one box — the cheapest honest way to put a plow on an ATV without matching part numbers to your machine.
The reason most people never put a plow on the ATV in their garage is not money, it is part numbers. A conventional plow is three separate purchases — blade, push tube, and a mount made specifically for your machine's year and model — and getting any one of them wrong means a box goes back. The One-Box concept exists to remove that.
This is the standard 50-inch version. You get the blade, the push tube and the UniMount, which Extreme Max states fits over 90% of current ATV models, and after the first installation the whole assembly comes off with two pins.
Read the maker's own language on the blade, because it is unusually candid: the 50-inch bolt-together design is described as engineered for lighter-duty applications such as residential use. That is the right expectation. This will clear a driveway after a storm. It is not going to fight a plow ridge at the end of the drive on the fourth pass, and no weight is published for it, so you cannot check the load against what your machine's front end is rated to carry.
For a mid-size ATV and a driveway you would otherwise shovel, that trade is fine — and the throughput comparison against doing it by hand is not close. If your driveway is long enough that a plow is the obvious answer rather than a considered one, look at the heavy-duty 60-inch version or at a UTV blade instead. What does not
- The maker itself calls the bolt-together 50-in blade lighter duty — this is not a commercial plow
- No published weight, so you cannot check it against your machine's front-end capacity
- 50 inches angled is a narrow effective pass; on a full-size ATV you will make more of them
- Manual or winch lift is on you — the blade does not come with a way to raise it
Grading first, snow second

A 326-pound Category 1 grader blade with 12 angle settings and no hydraulics required. It will move snow — but snow is not what it is for.
Skip this one
Skip this as a first purchase if snow is the only reason you are shopping. A rear blade is a grading implement that happens to move snow: it windrows to the side rather than throwing, it has no down pressure, and its heat-treated steel edge is designed to move gravel — which is exactly what you do not want it doing in January. It is an excellent second job for a blade you already own and a poor answer to "what should I buy for snow".
A rear blade is the attachment most likely to already be on the tractor, and that is the honest reason it is on this page. If you own one for grading the drive in spring, you do not need to buy anything to move snow this winter — you need to know its limits.
The specification is straightforward. Titan publishes 72 inches of width, a blade 15 inches tall and a quarter-inch thick, 12 manual angle settings split five forward-facing and seven rear-facing, a reversible heat-treated high-carbon cutting edge, and 326 pounds on a Category 1 three-point hitch that needs no hydraulic remotes. A kickstand is included, which matters more than it sounds when you are storing something this heavy.
The rear-facing settings are the underrated part for snow. Back-dragging is how you clear the six feet in front of a garage door that a front plow physically cannot reach, and a rear blade does it naturally because it is already behind you.
Now the limits. It windrows — snow goes to the side and stays on your property, so a long driveway gets narrower every storm in exactly the way a blower avoids. It has no down pressure, so the edge rides wherever the three-point arms are set rather than following the ground. And the reversible steel edge that makes it a good grader makes it a poor choice over gravel in winter, for precisely the reason it is a good one in April.
So: excellent second job for a blade you already own, poor first purchase if the only reason you are shopping is snow. If that is your situation, the plow versus blower argument is the one to read instead.
What works
- 12 angle settings including rear-facing, so it back-drags as well as it pushes
- No hydraulic remotes needed, which is what makes it usable on a basic compact tractor
- Reversible heat-treated cutting edge doubles the life of the wearing part
- Six feet is wider than most compact tractors, so you clear your own wheel tracks

- It is a grading tool that moonlights — if snow is the only job, this is the wrong first purchase
- Windrows snow to the side and cannot throw it, so a long driveway narrows all winter
- Steel edge on a gravel drive will move gravel; that is the entire design intent the rest of the year
- 326 lb with no down-pressure control means the blade rides on the tractor's three-point position, not on the ground
Gravel changes the answer here too
The site's usual rule applies with more force at this scale, because the tools are heavier and the machines are faster. A steel wear bar does not distinguish between snow and the top inch of a gravel driveway, and a 19-inch impeller will throw a stone considerably further than a walk-behind machine will.
- Set the skids or shoes before the first pass, not after. Every plow and blower here has adjustable skids or skid shoes; they are the only thing standing between a steel edge and your driveway surface.
- Let the surface freeze hard where you can. The same advice as running a snow blower on gravel, and it matters more with a machine that can pull harder.
- Consider a composite blade instead. Nordic's PC/ABS blade is the one product here whose maker states it glides over stone, pavers, gravel and turf without damaging them. On a gravel or paver drive that claim is the whole purchase — see gravel driveways and paver driveways.
- Do not use a grading blade over gravel in winter. It is designed to move stone. It will.
What a 3-point blower needs before you order one
The tractor route has hard preconditions, and they are worth checking in this order because failing any one of them makes the purchase useless rather than disappointing.
- Horsepower. Titan states a minimum of 20 HP for the 47-inch blower. This is not a comfort figure — an under-powered tractor turns the auger fine until it meets packed snow.
- Hitch category. Category 1 three-point. Check what your tractor actually has, not what you assume it has.
- A live 540 RPM PTO. With a shear-bolt driveline, which is the standard serviceable arrangement and is included on this one.
- Front ballast. 580 pounds on the rear arms lightens the front end of a compact tractor noticeably. A loader, a weight box or wheel weights is part of the purchase whether the listing says so or not.
- Somewhere to reverse. A rear-mounted blower means backing down the driveway. On a long or curved drive that is a genuine consideration, not a detail.
Where this stops being worth it
We would rather talk you out of this than into it. If you do not already own the machine, none of these numbers work: the attachment is a fraction of the cost of the ATV or tractor it bolts to, and buying both to clear a driveway is an enormous amount of money against a two-stage walk-behind blower that would do the job. The attachment route earns its place in one specific situation: you own the machine already, and the driveway is long enough, steep enough or rural enough that a walk-behind has stopped being practical.
